Frigid Gets Put on Ice Permanently.

R.I.P. 1996 - 2006

Frigid's 10th Birthday It’s the end of an era. The ever so cruisy and chilled Frigid Sundays are no more. Seb, Luke and the other organisers have decided to end the weekly event on a high by putting on a huge night last Saturday. Tooth, Mark N, and Luke Vibert all put on a great show with the Frigid regulars Sir Robbo, Prince V and Sub Bass Snarl also doing sets.

I’ve been going to Frigid on and off since 1996 so I’m a bit sad to see one of the best live music nights in Sydney close its doors. They’ve always had consistently great local acts and fantastic internationals play some of the freshest, most interesting music around. I’ve also made and kept many good friends through the whole scene that swirled around it.

Leading up to the event, Seb requested that photos be sent to a Flickr group he set up. There’s some great pics of events through the ages. Ahhh, nostalgia’s even better than I remember…

I managed to shoot a bit of video on the night with my trusty IXUS 55 and spliced togther the following clip. Apologies for the sound quality. The bass bins were large and pumping and the little microphone in my camera wasn’t really up to the job.

I slightly better quality version of the above video can be found here: Quicktime Movie (11.8Mb).

Very nice record of last Frigid. Homourous hideously overdriven bass from tiny microphones, but v nice all the same!
